Wood heating fuel Treenergy Ltd. http://www.treenergy.net

Welcome

This is the website of Treenergy Ltd.  We specialise in heat from wood. The oldest form of heating. We manufacture and supply wood pellets and wood briquettes. These are more dense and dry than standard logs and therefore provide an efficient and effective alternative to fossil fuels.

Most of the world is still using wood for heating and cooking. In Britain we have been spoilt with cheap and abundant North Sea oil and gas. Our modern society was built on the bounty this brought with it. However, as this has now all but gone, our children and grandchildren will not have this advantage. They will need to rely on more traditional fuels and locally sustainable economies. Britain is now slowly making efforts to catch up with the rest of Europe and the developed world in adopting renewable energy.

 Renewable energy from trees

South Wales and the South West of England have the perfect climate for growing trees. Expanding forests need to be thinned to ensure a healthy final crop of timber. They also need to be managed to gain the most benefit for wildlife to survive and people to enjoy. Treenergy will use timber to produce wood fuel. All of this timber will come from well managed forests or recycling and will be replaced by nature. We will also recover sawdust and other clean recycled wood, which is destined for landfill, due to its classification as waste.

Timber is a natural product which is entirely renewable as long as trees continue to grow. Unlike oil, gas and coal, timber does not add to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When fossil fuels were formed they absorbed carbon dioxide from a very different climate. The earth was hotter and the air had higher concentrations of greenhouse gases than today. By burning fossil fuels we are returning the environment to that state of many millions of years ago. This is being felt in the effects of global warming. See the page on Climate Change in this website.

Carbon dioxide produced from the Treenergy products has only recently been taken from the atmosphere. In fact only in the time it has taken the trees to grow. Using wood for fuel is therefore carbon neutral. If we continue to pour carbon dioxide from fossil fuels into the atmosphere we will make life on earth as we know it much more difficult.

For this reason government, scientists and businesses are beginning to address public concerns over climate change.

Our business

Treenergy produce pellets and briquettes and also charcoal, in Monmouth. The factory is currently part of an industrial estate with very few active businesses. Hadnock Road Industrial Estate once employed hundreds of people in Monmouth. Now those businesses have gone leaving many empty units. A testiment to the effects of globalisation. Another reason for us to believe in local businesses at a sustainable level.
